An Enhanced DBS check includes everything in the Standard check, plus:

The DBS Checking Process Explained
Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of the online DBS checking process?
Here’s what happens at each stage.
The DBS Application is Received
The DBS confirms they have received the application, and checks for missing information or errors.
Police National Computer Search
Applicant details are cross-checked with the Police National Computer to look for matches with any known records.
Barred List Check (if required)
If the role is eligible, the Children’s and/or Adults’ Barred Lists are searched to check if the applicant is barred from working with the relevant vulnerable group.
Local Police Records (Enhanced only)
Enhanced checks include a search of local police records for any relevant information specific to the applicant.
Certificate Printed & Posted
The certificate is printed and posted directly to the applicant. Our system will show if the result is clear or if further review is required – you can download a PDF summary immediately.
What Happened to CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) Checks?
CRB checks, once issued by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), were replaced in 2012 when the CRB merged with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.
This merger formed the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), which is now the official body responsible for processing criminal record checks in the UK. These are commonly referred to as DBS checks, but many still refer to them as CRB checks out of habit.
As a DBS Umbrella Body, Quicker DBS provides online DBS checks for organisations across the public, private, and voluntary sectors. Whether you need a Basic, Standard, or Enhanced DBS check, we make the process simple, fast, and fully compliant.
Obtaining the right level of DBS check helps identify individuals who may be unsuitable for certain roles – especially those involving children or vulnerable adults.
